 This office is responsible for the Diocese of Bismarck budget process, financial accounting system, computer and technology services, and telephone system. The financial duties include the preparation and presentation of the accounting reports for the 30 diocesan programs.
The office handles the payroll and benefits for the employees and oversees the retirement plan for diocesan employees as well as the 15 diocesan entities that have elected to participate in the retirement plan. We manage the diocesan property and liability insurance fund for all the parishes and schools.
In addition, the office serves as the liaison between the diocese and the following trusts and corporations: the Priest Benefit Association (priests' retirement plan), Casey Trust Fund (trust fund for Catholic education), Expansion Fund (deposit and loan fund for parishes and schools), and Provision for the Future (consists of A Vision for the Future Fund, Seminarian Scholarship Fund, the Annuity Reserve Fund and other small funds). Contractual agreements between the diocese and these entities identify the services provided by diocesan staff.
The Properties Administration employees care for the diocesan properties which include the Chancery, Center for Pastoral Ministry, C.B. Little House and Emmaus Place, the 8-apartment retirement complex for retired priests.
Responsibilities include maintaining the buildings and grounds as well as providing meals and laundry services to the retired priests. Most of the staff is part-time and seasonal employees; two are shared with the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit.
The office also is responsible for and serves as laison with Catholic Mutual Group, the organization that provides insurance coverage for the Diocese of Bismarck, the parishes and schools.
